The interview assignments were a good chance for me to write creatively and to work on my storytelling techniques. I'm a Journalism major and currently working in the field as a freelancer in both corporate and independent productions and partnerships. I sincerely learn something new every time I interview someone, and I'm always on the lookout for an opportunity to implement new techniques in my line of questioning. The most interesting part of this assignment was the difference in taking my style of writing from an academic to a stylized storytelling feel. I took Dr Gillen's Early Modern Literature class a semester ago, so I thought it would be fun to connect with her on the content we learned in her class in a more in depth way, but also just to get to know her a little more. We had a great a conversation and I believe that the paper reflects exactly that. I also took Professor Dwyer's Technical Writing course so I had a connection to the interview through that. It quickly became clear mid-way through the the conversation with Dwyer that our conversation was going to make for a good story. I think storytelling is just as important as inspiration, and both interviews served as a springboard for developing new techniques in my literary work.
