I have always loved to write. Even before I could put pen to paper, I was making up stories, telling my parents about my dreams, creating fantastical adventures for my stuffed animals, all born in the chaotic and wonderful world of my imagination.

Once I began to learn how to form words with a writing utensil, the floodgates opened. I have never stopped writing.

Writing takes so many forms for me - poetry, love note, academic essay, blog post, grocery list, journal, you name it - I have probably written it at some point.

Each time I write I make choices about the purpose, the audience, the style, the rhetorical context, and the potential impact it might make on me and whoever reads it.

Writing is my life because writing allows me to tell stories, to communicate with my world, and to self-fashion my own identity as it shifts, transforms, and evolves each day.

My favorite place to write creatively is out in nature. I love to sit under trees and allow my mind to flow freely.

My favorite place to write academically is my office. All my books are on hand, the library is one floor away, and I have the order and serenity of a professional space.
